Any concerns I might have had dissipated instantly when we arrived. The show was in a purpose-built stadium, with seating stands rising back on one side. These faced a long stage that had walkways going up through stone walls painted terracotta red. Outside of the stadium, tree branches enclosed the stands, giving the effect of sitting in the middle of nature. A pathway ran around all the way from the stage to just behind us, allowing the cast to come within feet of where we sat. And finally, to top it all, directly behind the stage rose the Jade Dragon Mountain itself, giving a majestic background to the performance. As I sat there in the clear sunshine, the mountain in front and blue skies above, I realised that, notwithstanding all of the sporting events and music concerts that I had attended around the world, this had to be the most spectacular stadium I had ever been in.
